“Designing the stone” is a project presented at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan from Pimar , historic mining and processing company of local stone , in which we give light to the work of the master Alvaro Siza , one of the greatest exponents of Portuguese architecture.
Lorosae , the product actually designed by Siza in 1999 , was chosen to illuminate the sculptures created for this exhibition .
Siza has accepted the challenge to think and interpret the stone according to his unique style and sign : the outcome of drawings , sketches and research on volumes and light resulting in a setting where people meet synaesthetically immersed in a stone quarry . Soft and sculptural volumes and clean cuts design the open space of the exhibition , letting the stone be undisputed star of the stage .
Humanoid figures take place between monoliths and pieces of furniture in an ancestral path .
