The location of the HABIBATH showroom, on Milan’s Via Molino delle Armi, has a very special history, marked in the last century by bombing and then by post-war reconstruction. The building has been significantly reworked over the years, hiding the qualities of the original space.
The Sgsm Studio architects wanted to bring this place back to its original beauty: for this reason, the first step in the process was to strip back all of the wall and floor coverings, uncovering hidden treasure in the form of striking nineteenth-century brickwork and Terrazzo floors, in what was probably the “mill” that today gives street its name.
In agreement with the clients, this initial phase concluded with leaving the space “natural” for around a year and a half.
In 2016, work recommenced for the second phase, completed in Spring 2017. The finished project is substantially faithful to the original of 2014, except for the preservation of the original Terrazzo flooring and some minor details.
The second phase involved the renewal of some of the Showroom lighting. To give character while maintaining the essential, material style of the location, the architects selected LOROSAE, in the brand new 30W COB LED version.
LOROSAE is a pendant with an elegant, timeless design, developed by Pritzker Prize winner Álvaro Siza, and ideal for both classic and modern spaces. LOROSAE is available in four sizes, 200 mm, 300 mm, 400 mm and 700 mm, with the LED version available in one size only (400 mm). LOROSAE LED features a high performance COB LED with integrated driver and an opal dome to diffuse the light evenly and softly over the entire surface of the methacrylate diffuser.
